Female aesthetics is always been a subject of my painting right from the beginning.
Female form goes through many painful transformations in their entire life, but
they always spread love and positivity, just like butterfly. If we look at the life of a
butterfly we will find that this small little beautiful insect also goes through lot of
transformation. From egg to larvae (caterpillar), to pupa (the cocoon) and from the
cocoon the butterfly emerges her unfurling glory. What a massive amount of
transition this tiny creature undergoes. But butterfly is always a symbol of beauty.
No matter how much pain she experiences in the process of transformation.
Female form also undergoes the very similar process of transformation. She leaves
her entire family once she gets married, I see this as a process of transformation,
which is not easy, to leaves our family and enter into new one and accept them
with the same intensity. But she does it happily.
Then she gets pregnant, again a transformation, both physically and emotionally.
Then she gives birth. Female form has to face many transformations like this right
from the beginning and till the end. But she never complains and accepts all the
changes positively. And spread positivity, sensitivity and beauty.
I try to show transformation through my paintings. You will find these two forms
merged into each other and become one in most of my paintings. Just like the
characteristics of these two forms, transformation in my painting also speaks about
positivity, sensitivity and beauty.
Charcoal is my favorite medium and I have been using this medium ever since I
started painting. Modern art practice has embraced charcoal as a popular medium
for paintings and drawings, which is fast, direct and responsive. Charcoal has its
own limitations, but to be able to create something beautiful out of that is
extremely satisfying.
